David S. Mercugliano is a Managing Partner of Pelorus Advisors and is responsible for Pelorus’ Health Care Services practice group.
David is an expert in healthcare operations and process improvement. As an executive he led the rehabilitation and financial turn-around of national health care service providers. As a life-long healthcare entrepreneur, David understands the complexities of the practice and how to craft creative solutions to difficult challenges.
David has extensive experience in operational analysis and bench-marking in order to identify areas ripe for revenue enhancement. He is adept at helping clients to utilize this information towards the broader goals of improved quality of care and further development of referral relationships through resultant improvement in clinical outcomes. David also has more than 20 years of clinical and practice management expertise throughout the clinical constellation of care, from acute trauma to sub-acute rehab, long term care, homecare practice, and out-patient services.
David has been active with a multitude of health-care-related professional associations, including AHCA, Leading Age (formerly AHSA), ACHCA, APTA, ALTCFM, and related state-specific for-profit and not-for-profit organizations throughout New England. He has lectured on a variety of health-care delivery, policy, and reimbursement-related topics in public and academic settings, and has served as chief editor for professional publications. He is passionate about quality of care and profitability, and readily shares his vision of their hand-in-hand relationship. David holds a B.S. in Physical Therapy from Boston University, and is Board-Certified as a Geriatric Clinical Specialist. He holds multiple clinical competencies and certifications, providing expertise across a variety of fields from which client organizations can benefit.
